UPDATE

Below, we are linking to some organizations that we support. If you choose to donate in honor of our wedding, *please* let us know so that we can properly thank you! (Send notifications to huguet.alice@gmail.com or rdmetc@gmail.com.)

Many of you already sent us gifts and/or donated for our canceled 2020 wedding. Thank you, again!

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is on the ground providing support as refugees flee Ukraine. They are coordinating a humanitarian response, and in particular looking to the needs of women and girls who are often most vulnerable during times of war.

IRC: "Founded at the call of Albert Einstein in 1933, the IRC is now at work in over 40 crisis-affected countries as well as communities throughout Europe and the Americas. We deliver lasting impact by providing health care, helping children learn, and empowering individuals and communities to become self-reliant, always seeking to address the inequalities facing women and girls."

We appreciate the opportunity to celebrate with our family and friends, but we're also very cognizant that not everyone has the luxury of sharing time with their loved ones. If you believe, as we do, that families belong together - help us support RAICES. RAICES - The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services - provides supports to help reunite families and assist unaccompanied minors at the US border.

RAICES: "We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees. With legal services, social programs, bond assistance, and an advocacy team focused on changing the narrative around immigration in this country, RAICES is operating on the national frontlines of the fight for immigration rights."

Southern California Animal Rescue Squad (SCARS)

We adopted our second dog, Petra, from SCARS. They are a small, volunteer-run animal rescue organization; they use every penny that they receive to help rehabilitate and adopt out worthy, wonderful pets. (Check out their available dogs, while you're there!)

SCARS: "Animals are our mission! We strive to serve as partners within the Animal rescue community through advocacy, education, networking, community outreach, shelter rescue, rehabilitation, fostering placements, and Animal welfare campaigns. Using community-driven models, we take actions that make a long-lasting difference."
